Job description

University of Texas is seeking to recruit a Remote Sensing Data Scientist. The position entails: exploitation and analysis of remotely sensed (airborne and space-based), geospatial data for a variety of applications. Contribute to the Geospatial Laser Applications and Measurements group research tasks and objectives associated with existing projects. Explore and develop new research technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software and algorithm solutions for remote sensing applications.
  • Provide guidance and technical leadership in the area of remote sensing.
  • Provide support in business development through proposals and sponsor engagement.
  • Publish and present research results.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

  • Ph.D in engineering, geoscience or other applied sciences.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in working with remotely sensed data, and data products.
  • Applicant should have proficiency in programming for development and conceptual derivation.
  • The applicant should have experience with software packages for research projects.
