Minimize Project assistant in microwave remote sensing of vegetation (m/f)

Overview

To support research, TU Wien are looking for a PhD candidate with a strong technological interest to support activities in the field of microwave remote sensing of vegetation properties. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing new vegetation products based on (microwave) remote sensing and using them in climate assessments. Furthermore, the selected candidate will support the coordination of research projects and teaching activities led by the group.

Required skills

  • Master degree in geodesy, geoinformation sciences, environmental sciences, information sciences, physics, physical geography, or similar
  • Experience in (microwave) remote sensing
  • Profound knowledge in programming (e.g. Python, R, Matlab, C++)
  • Ambition to perform scientific research and pursue a PhD dissertation

Assets

  • Experience in hydrological or environmental modelling
  • Willingness to support the educational programme of the department
  • Willingness to support scientific projects
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English

Candidate selection will start on 10 June 2019 and will continue until a suitable candidate is found. Envisaged start date is 1 September 2019 and will be limited to 3 years.
