Nitrogen fertilization is of high importance in crop production but can meanwhile have a negative impact on the environment. Currently, the exceedance of critical values of nitrate in the ground water endangers health and has led to a complaint by the European Commission. Consequently, nitrogen fertilization should be adapted to plants' needs.
New remote sensing data like SENTINEL-2 with high spatial and high spectral resolution can give information on plants' status and can be used to create application maps for the farmers. The hired researcher will work on two projects:
